Professional Internship Program

Motiva’s professional internship program enables you to put your classroom knowledge into practice, discover your strengths and developmental areas, and build valuable connections for future career opportunities.

Internship applications are posted each September and provide opportunities in Port Arthur and Houston.

What to Expect: During our 10-to-12-week paid immersive professional internship program, you can expect to work in a collaborative environment where you will be assigned a mentor, have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that impact the business, and network with industry leaders.

What We Are Looking For: Motiva is looking for a diverse pool of candidates with a drive to meet the world’s growing demand for energy. Internships are in a variety of fields and can include engineering (mechanical, chemical, and electric), finance, IT, human resources, project management, and marketing. Students interested in our professional internship program must be full-time students enrolled in a university with a 3.0-grade point average or higher.

2024 Summer Intern

Craft and Vocational Internship Program

Our 10-week craft and vocational internship program is for Lamar State College Port Arthur students with craft or vocational skills who are looking to gain invaluable experience in the field.

Craft and vocational internships provide opportunities within our Port Arthur Manufacturing Complex in Port Arthur, Texas.

What to Expect: You can expect to learn the roles and responsibilities of Motiva's process operators and instrument technicians. As a craft and vocational intern, you will gain valuable on-the-job training that will prepare you for life after graduation.

What We Are Looking For: Craft and vocational interns must have, or be pursuing, an associate degree in process technology or instrumentation technology at Lamar State College Port Arthur. Students must be in their last semester or be a graduate of the previous semester and have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Motiva maintains close relationships with seven universities to recruit top talent through our University Relations program. Participating in career fairs and supporting career centers, we identify candidates to join Motiva's collaborative, inclusive culture.

Partner Schools: Our partner schools include Lamar University, Louisiana State University, Prairie View A&M University, Texas A&M University, Texas Southern University, University of Houston, and University of Texas at Austin.

Typical Early Career Degrees: Our diverse workforce comes from a variety of educational backgrounds. For early career positions, degrees typically include, but are not limited to, accounting, business, chemistry, communications and public relations, computer science, cybersecurity, engineering (chemical, computer, electrical, and mechanical), economics, finance, graphic design, human resources, and IT.

Early Career Development Program

Motiva’s Early Career Development Program fosters professional growth for employees in the first three and half years post-graduation from an accredited university. Through a combination of in-person learning courses, networking events, and volunteer activities, we equip our early career population with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in their careers post-graduation.
