Education and Training

Developing the future workforce

We are passionate about empowering the next generation, and that is why education and training is one of Motiva’s key community support focus areas. We invest in and sponsor programs that aim to develop a skilled and competitive workforce. We proudly support students through community scholarships; science, technology, engineering, and math education; mentoring; professional and craft internships; and other support programs.

Through our education and training initiatives, Motiva collaborates with local and regional partners to advance workforce development programs and strengthen our community. Close partnerships with area high schools and school districts in both Houston and Southeast Texas enable us to closely support students and guide them toward their professional goals. We are proud to partner with local craft training centers, community colleges, and universities to develop local workers by supporting training initiatives, serving on advisory panels, and investing in workforce development initiatives.

Motiva Excellence in Education Scholarship

Through the Excellence in Education Scholarship Program, Motiva supports Southeast Texas students seeking an undergraduate, associate, or technical degree in science, technology, engineering, math, or business from an accredited school or university.

Aspire Mentoring Program

Our student mentoring program, Aspire, supports high school juniors and seniors who are unsure of their path after high school. Through this two-year program, students are matched with Motiva employees for monthly sessions, as well as mock interviews, resume reviews, career fairs, and more. Aspire allows Motiva employees to empower, encourage, and motivate students to pursue higher education and discover their passions and skill sets.

The program is offered to Northside High School students through a partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters in Houston and at Memorial and Wilson Early College High Schools in Port Arthur, Texas.
