Travis Capps
Executive Vice President, Commercial
Travis Capps is Executive Vice President, Commercial at Motiva. He joined the company in 2013 and leads Motiva's fuel and base oil sales and marketing, manufacturing optimization, business development, business operations, center of excellence, and joint venture management teams.
A strong advocate for continuous improvement, he is passionate about delivering excellence while approaching each situation with an entrepreneurial curiosity. He develops agile teams that tackle new opportunities quickly to help Motiva gain marketplace advantages.
Travis plays a key role in Motiva's long-term growth plans. He supports merger and acquisition growth of existing business segments, such as the formation of the Juniper Ventures of Texas retail joint venture in central Texas or the Port Neches Link pipeline venture in east Texas.
Travis helped guide Motiva's entry into the chemicals business with a 2019 acquisition of a chemicals facility in Port Arthur, Texas. His team also spearheads the development of Motiva's Port Arthur downtown campus, which will office Port Arthur regional business activities.
With more than 25 years of industry experience, Travis began his career as a process engineer with Exxon at the Benicia Refinery in California, which was later acquired by Valero. He progressed through a variety of leadership roles in engineering, commercial supply, and talent development at Valero and served as Vice President of Energy and Gases before moving to Motiva.
Always striving to understand how others see the world, Travis serves on the board of FotoFest, a photography arts organization in Houston, which organizes a biennial photography exhibition.
Travis received his Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from Auburn University and his Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at San Antonio.
