Chemical Products

Creating the building blocks for modern life

Our chemicals facility at the Port Arthur Manufacturing Complex produces polymer-grade propylene, ethylene, cyclohexane, and other derivatives. These basic chemical building blocks are then used by customers to manufacture products essential to modern life, from tires and cell phones to innovative medical technologies that save lives.

Ethylene and Polymer-Grade Propylene

Tires

Ethylene can be developed into styrene, which is the synthetic rubber found in tires. Styrene is also found in foam insulation and used in printing and screen printing.

Paint

Paints

Ethylene glycol is used in household paint, helping it apply more smoothly and allowing for an even application of color.

Medical Equipment

Medical Devices

Ethylene is also used in the production of ethylene dichloride, a vinyl used in various medical devices and tubing.

Cell phone

Cell Phones

Polyethylene is used in durable plastics like the materials used in the outer casing of cell phones and other consumer products.

Cyclohexane

Carpeting

Cyclohexane is used in the nylon that makes up most modern carpeting. Nylon contributes to durability of carpeting, and resists fading and staining.

Tent

Tents and Camping Gear

The fabric used to construct tents is also made of nylon, which is created by cyclohexanes. This makes camping gear sturdy and helps it hold up to poor weather conditions.

Medical Textiles

Cyclohexane is a key part of manufacturing important protective equipment for the medical field, like surgical masks and suits.

Clothing

The clothing we wear is made more comfortable, thanks to cyclohexane. Items last longer and wear stronger.

Our Operations

Our integrated chemicals plant converts crude and other feedstocks into chemicals.
