Motiva Marks ‘National First Responders Day’ with $75K in Grants to SE Texas Emergency Responders
October 28, 2024
Motiva Enterprises commemorated National First Responders Day by announcing the recipients of its Motiva First Responder Grant Program, awarding more than $75,000 to 15 emergency response organizations in three Texas counties that host Motiva’s assets.
Grants up to $10,000 per applicant are awarded to eligible organizations to fund the purchase of safety equipment, professional training, or safety education programs.
One of the 15 Motiva grant recipients is the Port Neches Fire Rescue, which plans to use its $5,000 award to aid in the purchase of new technology, including new computer tablets and laptops.
We plan to use this grant award to replace aging equipment while expanding our capabilities to protect the community. We're grateful to Motiva for partnering with us so we are better equipped to serve the City of Port Neches.”

Fire Rescue Chief, Port Neches
Today’s announcement represents the Motiva program’s fourth grant award cycle. Since the Motiva First Responder Grant Program was introduced in 2021, the company has provided grant awards across its operating area totaling more than $500,000.
“Supporting organizations that contribute so much toward the safety of the community is one way we at Motiva put our core values into practice,” said Motiva Operations Executive Vice President Jeff Newman. “In addition to improving the safety and preparedness of local first responders, we hope these grants have a lasting, measurable impact on the communities where our employees live and work.”
This year’s grant recipients gathered at Motiva’s Port Arthur Manufacturing Complex today to receive their awards and conduct emergency response planning.
Congress designated October 28 as National First Responders Day in 2017. The day honors the paramedics, EMTS, firefighters, police officers and 911 operators who answer the call when a crisis arises, often putting their own lives on the line. Serving as a national day of gratitude, National First Responders Day pays tribute to their services to their communities and honors fallen first responders.
