More than 90 percent of Motiva’s Wholesalers now enrolled in GetUpside Program
Motiva and GetUpside Launch Mobile App in Texas Market
HOUSTON – (Oct. 2, 2018) – Motiva and GetUpside announced today the launch of the GetUpside Program into the Texas market. The GetUpside app gives more than 15.5 million licensed drivers in Texas access to exclusive low fuel prices not displayed on gas stations signs. Along with fuel discounts, Texas consumers can use the GetUpside app to find cashback incentives at more than 300 restaurants in Houston with more stations and restaurants coming online daily across the state.
“We are thrilled to launch GetUpside in Texas,” said GetUpside co-founder and CEO Alex Kinnier. “With more licensed drivers than any state except California, our expansion of the GetUpside program into Texas will be a game-changer for gas retailers and owners of quick-serve eateries.”
Currently, consumers can use the GetUpside app to find more than 500 gas stations offering cash-back discounts in Houston, which represents 20 percent of all gas stations in the city. By mid-month, hundreds of stations in Austin and San Antonio will be added to the platform and by the end of 2018, Texans will have more than 1,000 stations across Texas’ major cities to choose from when searching for low gas prices.
“Gas retailing is a competitive business, and our wholesalers are looking for innovative ways to drive consumers to their stations and c-stores without having to diminish their bottom line,” said Jeff Rubin, Motiva’s director of marketing and competitive intelligence. “With more than 100,000 GetUpside transactions happening each week, the GetUpside app is delivering the incremental profit our wholesalers are seeking.”
According to the Federal Highway Administration, Texans drive an average of 16,347 miles each year, which means the average consumer will stop at a gas station to fill up the tank almost 50 times a year. Mirroring the technology applied by sophisticated online retailers, GetUpside's personalization process ensures that fuel offers are profit-increasing and do not cannibalize existing, loyal customers.
“With more than 200 successful retail gas stations in the Greater Houston area, we know what programs and incentives are going to drive consumers into a station,” said Keith Van Marter, partner of Landmark Industries. “By participating in the GetUpside program, we get insight into the buying habits of new customers, enabling us to draw these customers away from our competitors by offering personalized discounts.”
Now live in 30 markets in 13 states, Motiva and GetUpside plan to expand the GetUpside Program to wholesalers across the entire United States in 2019. As stations in Texas come online, Texans in key markets will hear the GetUpside ads on both traditional and iHeartMedia radio stations.
